What rules are followed? The Top Gun Championships generally follows BDC rules. For a complete set of rules visit http://www.nbdca.com/.
A rule meeting will be conducted Thursday evening, at approximately 6:00 P.M., prior to the start of the tournament at the Little Creek Lodge Hunting Club. At this time, we will be discussing rules and rule modifications, as well as bird setting guidelines. All bird setters, scorekeepers, field marshal(s), and club owners will be present. All competitors are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Past and Present Top Gun Championships Rule Modifications:
- An appointed field marshal(s) will troubleshoot certain situations that may arise during the Top Gun Championships.
- The tournament will be a sequestered event. The only individuals invited to spectate will be non-competitors. The tournament hosts, field marshal(s), bird setters, and scorekeepers will have the authority to warn and/or disqualify a competitor for spectating fields.
- Players are allowed to use electronic collars at the Top Gun Championships.
- Dogs in heat will not be allowed to participate in the Top Gun Championships.
- Pointing Divisions:
- A dog must hold point for three seconds and the competitor must stop for three seconds to receive pointing points.
- A "trapped" or "caught" bird is considered a bird in the dog's mouth, even if the dog releases the bird allowing the competitor to shoot the bird.
- All runs will be scored via the score sheets linked below.
